Anthony Shocked! When Amber tells him she wants a divorce.😱

Anthony: (laughing softly) So… should we order Thai or Italian tonight?

Amber: Anthony… can we talk first?

Anthony: (pauses, notices her tone) Uh—yeah. Sure. What’s going on?

Amber: (takes a deep breath) I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. Longer than you realize.

Anthony: Amber, you’re starting to scare me. Just say it.

Amber: I don’t think I can stay married anymore.

Anthony: …What?
(laughs nervously) That’s not funny.

Amber: I’m not joking.

Anthony: Okay, stop. Stop. What do you mean you “can’t stay married”? We just talked about vacation plans last week!

Amber: I know. And that’s part of the problem. We talk about plans, but we never talk about us.

Anthony: That’s not true. I ask you how you are all the time.

Amber: You ask, but you don’t hear me.

Anthony: (voice rising) Hear you say what, Amber? That you’re tired? Everyone’s tired!

Amber: I’m not just tired. I’m lonely. I’ve been lonely for years, and I’m sitting right next to my husband.

Anthony: (stands up) That’s unfair. I’m here every day. I work my ass off for this family!

Amber: I know you do. And I appreciate it. But being present isn’t just being in the same room.

Anthony: So this is it? You just wake up one day and decide to throw everything away?

Amber: No. I woke up every day for years hoping things would change.

Anthony: Why didn’t you say something sooner?

Amber: I did. Over and over. In quiet ways. In angry ways. In tears you didn’t notice.

Anthony: (runs a hand through his hair, pacing) This doesn’t make any sense. We’re not perfect, but we’re not that bad.

Amber: To you, maybe. To me, it feels like I disappeared.

Anthony: Disappeared? Amber, you’re the center of my life!

Amber: Then why do I feel like an afterthought?

Anthony: (voice cracks) Are you seeing someone else?

Amber: No. This isn’t about someone else.

Anthony: Then why does it feel like you’ve already left?

Amber: Because emotionally… I did. I tried to stay. I really did.

Anthony: (quietly) So you’re done. Just like that.

Amber: I didn’t say this lightly. Saying “divorce” feels like ripping my own heart out.

Anthony: (sits down slowly) I don’t know how to breathe right now.

Amber: I never wanted to hurt you.

Anthony: But you are. You really, really are.

Amber: I know. And I hate myself for it.

Anthony: Is there anything I can do? Therapy? Time? I’ll change—just tell me how.

Amber: (tears in her eyes) I needed you to want to change before I broke.

Anthony: So that’s it? You’ve already made up your mind?

Amber: I think… yes.

Anthony: (whispers) I thought we’d grow old together.

Amber: I thought so too.

Anthony: Then why does it feel like I’m the only one still fighting?

Amber: Because sometimes fighting longer just hurts more.

(Silence fills the room. Anthony stares at the floor. Amber wipes her tears.)

Anthony: I never imagined this would be how we end.

Amber: Me neither.

Anthony: (voice shaking) I don’t hate you.

Amber: I don’t hate you either. That’s what makes this so hard.

Anthony: So… what happens now?

Amber: We figure it out. Slowly. And as kindly as we can.

Ending Scene

(The clock ticks loudly. Neither of them speaks for a long moment.)

Amber: I’ll sleep in the guest room tonight.

Anthony: (nods, staring ahead) Yeah… okay.

(She stands at the doorway, hesitating.)

Amber: Anthony… I really did love you.

Anthony: (finally looks up, eyes red) I know. I loved you too.

(Amber walks away. The door closes softly.)

(Anthony stays on the couch. He exhales, shaky. His phone buzzes—he ignores it. He reaches for his wedding ring, twists it slowly, then slips it off and places it on the table.)

Anthony: (whispers to himself) I didn’t see it coming.

(The camera lingers on the ring, the quiet room, the life that just ended.)

Anthony: (nods, barely holding it together) Okay… okay.

(They sit there, hearts breaking in the same room, knowing nothing will ever be the same.) 💔
