The DNA Truth Is Out: Cocoa Discovers Kai Is Anthony’s Son — You Won’t Believe What Happened Next ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ‘€

Setting: Cocoa's living room. It’s a rainy afternoon. She’s sitting on the couch, holding a DNA test envelope in her trembling hands. Kai is in his room, and Anthony has just walked in. The air is tense.

Cocoa:
(voice trembling)
You really gonna act like everything is normal, Anthony?

Anthony:
(confused)
What are you talking about? I just got here. Is something wrong with Kai?

Cocoa:
(slams the DNA results on the coffee table)
Why don’t you tell me, Anthony? Maybe you can explain this.

Anthony:
(picks up the envelope, reads it, slowly sitting down)
…Cocoa, where did you get this?

Cocoa:
Oh, don’t flip this on me. I had to go behind your back because something never sat right. Kai looks like you, talks like you… hell, he even raises his damn eyebrow like you when he’s suspicious. And now I know why.

Anthony:
(sighs, runs a hand through his hair)
I didn't know. I swear to God, Cocoa, I didn’t know.

Cocoa:
(scoffs)
You didn’t know?! So what? You slept with my sister and just… forgot?

Anthony:
It was before we got serious. Years ago. One night. Me and Jasmine were both drunk, stupid… and then she ghosted me for months. She never told me she had a kid — let alone my kid.

Cocoa:
And I’m just supposed to believe that? You knew he was in the picture. You watched me raise Kai like he was just my nephew! And you never thought for a second?

Anthony:
I didn’t! I mean, I always wondered why Jasmine kept him away from everyone. But I never made the connection. She said the dad ran off. I figured — I don't know, some deadbeat guy from her past. I never thought he was mine, Cocoa.

Cocoa:
(quietly)
You could’ve asked. You could’ve said something. But instead, I’m the one who had to piece it together while raising a kid that’s not mine like he’s my own. And now this?

Anthony:
He is yours, Cocoa. Blood or not. You’ve been his mother since he was a baby. That doesn’t change.

Cocoa:
(eyes watering)
But it changes everything, Anthony. You are his father. You lied by omission. You both did.

Anthony:
(sincerely)
If I had known, I would’ve stepped up. I would've been there from day one. But now that I do know… I want to do right by him. And by you.

Cocoa:
(snaps)
Do not talk about doing right by me. You don’t get to say that until you talk to Kai. Because guess what? He found the envelope too. He knows.

Anthony:
(freezes)
Wait… what?

Cocoa:
Yeah. He came home early from school. Saw me holding it, took it, and ran to his room. He hasn’t said a word since.

Anthony:
(gets up)
I need to talk to him.

Cocoa:
(holds up a hand)
No. Not yet. You don’t get to go in there and fix it with a hug and a "sorry." He’s confused, angry, and heartbroken. You need to think real hard about what you’re gonna say. Because this boy already lost his mother — now he feels like he’s losing me too.

Anthony:
(quietly)
He’s not losing you. I won’t let that happen.

Cocoa:
Then you better figure out how to be the father he deserves… without breaking what we had. Because this… this changes everything.

(long pause)

Anthony:
(softly)
You still love me?

Cocoa:
I don’t even know who you are right now.

Cocoa:
(gently knocking on the door)
Kai…?

Kai:
(doesn't look up, voice shaky)
I know.

Cocoa:
(sighs, stepping inside)
Baby, I never wanted you to find out like this. I should’ve told you a long time ago.

Kai:
(voice breaking, finally looks up)
Why didn’t you? Why didn’t you ever tell me? All these years, you let me think… you let me believe that you were the only one who cared about me. And now? I find out he’s my dad?!

Cocoa:
(sitting down beside him, trying to calm him)
Kai, I love you more than anything in this world. You’ve always been my son. That doesn’t change.

Kai:
(bitter laugh)
It doesn’t feel like it. I don’t know what to believe anymore. I thought you were protecting me, but all I feel is… is lied to.

Cocoa:
(softly)
I was trying to protect you, sweetie. I was trying to protect us both. You were my responsibility, and I thought it would hurt you if you knew the truth. I thought keeping you away from all the pain would make it easier for us both.

Kai:
(tears starting to well up in his eyes)
But now? Now I feel like I don’t know who I am. If Anthony’s my dad, why didn’t he ever come around? Why wasn’t he there for me?

Cocoa:
(shakes her head, tears in her own eyes)
Because he didn’t know. Kai… I didn’t tell him. He didn’t know you existed until recently. Jasmine—your mom—she kept him out of your life. She kept you away from everyone, even me. I never wanted that for you.

Kai:
(standing up, voice cracking)
How could she do that? How could she just… disappear?

Cocoa:
(softly)
She was scared, too. She had her reasons, but it wasn’t your fault. None of this is. This isn’t on you.

Kai:
(sighs, staring at the ground)
So, what do I do now?

Cocoa:
(supportive)
We take it one step at a time. You don’t have to have all the answers today. You’re allowed to be angry, confused, even hurt. But you’re not alone. I’m right here, and I always will be.

(Anthony knocks at the door from the hallway.)

Anthony:
(clears throat, cautiously)
Kai? Can we talk?

Kai:
(voice flat, eyes still on the floor)
What’s there to talk about? You weren’t there. Not for me. Not for her. You just disappeared, and now you expect to just waltz back in like nothing happened?

Anthony:
(heartbreaking pause)
I don’t expect anything. I didn’t know you were mine, Kai. I didn’t know you existed until recently. But I want to be a part of your life. I want to be a father to you. If you’ll let me.

Kai:
(angrily)
Let you? Let you? Like I have a choice in this? Like I can just say, "Oh, okay, sure. Let me forget the years you weren’t there"? You think you can just swoop in now because of a piece of paper that says we’re related? That’s not how this works.

Cocoa:
(standing up, gently intervening)
Kai… I know it hurts. But we’re not trying to erase everything that happened. This doesn’t mean your past with me is gone. You’ve always been mine. And always will be, no matter what.

Kai:
(shakes his head)
You don’t get it, Mom. I don’t even know who I am anymore. If he’s my dad, then… then why does it feel like you’ve been the only one who ever really cared about me?

Anthony:
(voice trembling, stepping forward)
Because I wasn’t there. I can’t undo that. But I can try to be here now. It won’t be easy, and I don’t expect you to forgive me right away. But I want to make it right. I want to be the dad you deserve.

Kai:
(quietly, almost to himself)
How can I trust you?

Cocoa:
(gently, pulling Kai into a hug)
We’ll take it slow, okay? No one’s rushing anything. But you can trust that you’re loved. You’re not alone in this, Kai. You have me. And now… you have him, too. If you want to.

Kai:
(sniffles, voice barely above a whisper)
I don’t know if I’m ready for that…

Anthony:
(sincerely)
I understand. We’ll go at your pace. No pressure. Just… know that I’m here. For you. Always.

(There’s a long silence as Kai processes everything. The weight of the situation is clear.)

Cocoa:
(softly)
You don’t have to decide everything today. Let’s just start with small steps.

Kai:
(looks between them, still uncertain, but a glimmer of hope in his eyes)
Maybe… maybe we can try. But I’m not making any promises. Not yet.

Anthony:
(nods, quietly)
That’s all I’m asking for. One step at a time.

                                                [SCENE END]
