"Anthony Thought It Was Just a Regular Check-Up… Then She Said ‘I’m Pregnant’ 😳

[Setting: A quiet, sterile doctor’s office. Sarah is sitting on the exam table, swinging her legs nervously. Anthony, holding her hand, looks around the room casually.]

Anthony:
(looking at the posters on the wall)
You’d think after all these check-ups we’d get a punch card or something. Ten visits and you get a free smoothie.

Sarah:
(smiles faintly, then looks at him)
Yeah, something like that...

Anthony:
(teasing)
Unless they’re secretly trying to keep us here. You know, get us invested in their reading material.
(picks up a pamphlet)
“10 Signs You Might Be Gluten Intolerant.” Riveting stuff.

Sarah:
(chuckles nervously)
Anthony...

Anthony:
(turning toward her)
Hmm?

Sarah:
There’s... there’s something I need to tell you. And I didn’t know how to say it. But I figured today was the right time.

Anthony:
(concerned now)
Is everything okay? Wait—are you okay?

Sarah:
Yes. I’m okay. We’re okay.

Anthony:
“We”?
(pauses)
What do you mean “we”? Like, we as in me and you? Or...?

Sarah:
Anthony...

Anthony:
(sits up straighter)
Sarah, what’s going on?

Sarah:
I’m pregnant.

[Silence. Anthony’s mouth opens slightly, but no words come out for a moment.]

Anthony:
You’re... You’re what?

Sarah:
Pregnant. I’m—We’re having a baby.

Anthony:
(leans back in the chair, stunned)
You’re pregnant.
(pause)
You’re pregnant?

Sarah:
(tears in her eyes, but smiling nervously)
Yes.

Anthony:
(voice rising slightly in disbelief)
Like... with a baby baby? This isn’t one of your “I had a weird dream and now I think the universe is telling me something” moments?

Sarah:
(laughs through tears)
No, Anthony. It’s real. I saw the test. And then I took three more. And the doctor just confirmed it.

Anthony:
(leans forward, elbows on knees, trying to absorb it)
Oh my god...
(rubs his hands through his hair)
We’re gonna have a kid? Like, an actual tiny human?

Sarah:
(nods slowly)
Yeah.

Anthony:
(pause, then looks at her)
Wow. Okay. Wow.
(laughs softly)
I thought today was just about you getting your blood pressure checked...

Sarah:
Well, surprise.

Anthony:
(sits back, still in shock, then grins slowly)
You just flipped my whole world in like five seconds.

Sarah:
I was scared to tell you. I didn’t know how you’d react.

Anthony:
Scared? Why?

Sarah:
I don’t know. I guess I didn’t want to freak you out. Or make you feel like this was all too sudden.

Anthony:
(softly)
Sarah, you could’ve told me in the parking lot, at the gas station, while we were watching Netflix—I’d still be freaking out. But not in a bad way.

Sarah:
So... you’re okay with this?

Anthony:
(pauses, stands up, walks over to her, puts his hands on her knees)
I’m terrified. I have no idea what I’m doing. But if we’re doing this together? Yeah. I’m okay with it. More than okay.
(smiles)
I think I’m actually kinda... excited.

Sarah:
(laughs)
You’re gonna be a dad, Anthony.

Anthony:
(smirking)
And you’re gonna be a mom.
(pause)
Holy crap.

Sarah:
Yeah. Holy crap.

[They both laugh, hug, and just hold each other in the quiet office.]

Anthony:
You know we’re gonna need to buy like... a million diapers, right?

Sarah:
Oh, don’t worry. I’ve already started a list.
