"BREAKING: Anthony and Shyala Brokeupš° Shayla leave Anthony houseš±
[Scene: Inside Anthony's apartment, packed boxes are scattered near the door. Shayla is standing near the couch with her purse. Anthony leans on the wall, arms crossed, eyes low.]
Anthony:
So... that’s it? You’re really leaving?
Shayla:
(quietly)
Yeah. I think it's time. We’ve been dragging this out too long, Anthony.
Anthony:
(voice shaking slightly)
I thought we were just going through a rough patch. Every couple fights, Shayla. I didn’t think you’d just pack up and go.
Shayla:
This wasn’t just a fight. This has been months of us ignoring what we both feel. You know that. We stopped listening, stopped understanding each other.
Anthony:
I never stopped loving you though.
Shayla:
(sighs, holding back tears)
I never said you did. But love isn’t enough when we can’t even talk without hurting each other. I’ve been crying more than smiling lately.
Anthony:
So what, you just walk away? After everything? After the plans, the trips, the stupid dog we were gonna get?
Shayla:
Don’t make this harder than it already is. I’ve replayed this moment in my head a hundred times. I didn’t want it to come to this. But staying… would’ve meant losing myself.
Anthony:
You say that like I was holding you back.
Shayla:
You weren’t. But we were stuck, Anthony. And in trying to fix things, I lost track of who I was. I wasn’t growing, neither were you. We were just surviving each day.
Anthony:
(quietly)
I didn’t even notice. That’s the worst part.
Shayla:
It’s not your fault. Not all of it. We both let things slip. We stopped putting in the work. We stopped choosing each other.
Anthony:
(voice breaking)
You really think there’s no way back? No second chance?
Shayla:
(silent for a moment, then speaks)
Not right now. Maybe one day... when we’re both different people. But we can’t keep bleeding into each other’s wounds and calling it love.
Anthony:
So, that’s it. Goodbye?
Shayla:
(softly)
For now. I need to find out who I am without this. Without us.
(picks up bag, walks to the door)
Anthony:
Will I ever see you again?
Shayla:
(tears in her eyes)
You will. Maybe in a coffee shop, or a random bookstore. And we’ll smile, and it won’t hurt anymore.
Anthony:
I’ll wait for that day. Even if it never comes.
Shayla:
(gently)
Goodbye, Anthony.
Anthony:
(whispers)
Goodbye, Shayla.
[Door closes softly. Anthony is left standing alone in the silence.]
