Anthony… there’s something I need to tell you.

Anthony:
(looks at her with concern)
Hey, what’s wrong? You’re kind of freaking me out right now. You’re not sick or anything, are you?

Shayla:
No, no, nothing like that. I’m okay. Just… (takes a deep breath) I found out something today, and it’s kind of a big deal.

Anthony:
Okay… now you really have me nervous. What is it?

Shayla:
(small smile, voice shaking a little)
I’m pregnant.

Anthony:
(pause – eyes widen – mouth opens slightly)
…You’re what? 😱

Shayla:
I’m pregnant, Anthony. I took two tests. I went to the doctor this afternoon to confirm it.

Anthony:
(still processing)
Wait—wait—like pregnant pregnant? A baby? Like… we’re going to have a baby?!

Shayla:
Yes. A real baby. It’s happening.

Anthony:
(stares at her, then suddenly jumps up and starts pacing)
Oh my God. Oh my God. This is real? I mean, this is really real?

Shayla:
(laughing nervously)
Yes! It’s real! Are you okay?

Anthony:
(shouting with joy, fists in the air)
WE’RE HAVING A BABY! OH MY GOD!!!
(grabs Shayla’s hands, pulling her up)
THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!

Shayla:
(smiling through tears)
You’re… happy?

Anthony:
Happy?! Shayla, I feel like I just won the universe! I’m gonna be a dad?! We’re going to be parents?! This is insane!

Shayla:
I wasn’t sure how you’d take it. I mean… we didn’t exactly plan this.

Anthony:
No, we didn’t. But who cares?! Life just dropped the most beautiful surprise on us. Shayla, I love you so much. We’re going to make the best little family.

Shayla:
I was scared, Anthony. I still kind of am. Everything’s going to change.

Anthony:
I know. But we’ll change with it. We’ll figure it out, one day at a time. Diapers, midnight feedings, baby-proofing everything... bring it on.

Shayla:
(laughs, tears still in her eyes)
I can’t believe how excited you are.

Anthony:
How could I not be? It’s us, Shayla. Our baby. I already love them, and they’re like the size of a bean right now.

Shayla:
Do you want to go to the first ultrasound with me next week?

Anthony:
Are you kidding? I’m already blocking my calendar. I’m going to be there for every single thing. First ultrasound, baby kicks, midnight cravings—every bit of it.

Shayla:
I love you, Anthony.

Anthony:
I love you too. And I love our little bean.
(pulls her into a hug)
We’re going to be a family. Wow. This just became the most incredible chapter of our story.
